David was born and raised in Northern Ireland and received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Belfast in 1977 and his Chartered Accountancy designation in Ireland in 1981. He immigrated to Calgary later that year and obtained his Alberta Institute of Chartered Accountants designation in 1985. In 1988, he joined Jayda Rosenthal to form Hamilton & Rosenthal, Chartered Accountants.
David has devoted much of his professional time to the construction industry. He has developed an expertise in the many requirements and reporting issues unique to this industry.
David was elected to the board of directors of the Calgary Construction Association in 1995 and held the position of Secretary Treasurer until 2015.
Jayda was born and raised in Calgary. She received her Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Calgary and articled with Arthur Anderson and Doane Raymond. Jayda received her Chartered Accountancy designation in 1983 and joined David Hamilton to form Hamilton & Rosenthal, Chartered Accountants in 1988.
Jayda is passionate about the success of owner-operated small businesses. She is service oriented and is dedicated to maintaining open and continuous communications with her clients who are in a wide variety of businesses. Her goal is to make the accounting function enjoyable and informative while taking advantage of all favorable tax planning opportunities.
Jayda has devoted many years of service to the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta. She has served on the Practice Review Committee, the Disciplinary Committee and was a Member of Council for the Institute of Chartered Accountants for four years. She has emceed numerous Institute functions over the years and was an Ambassador for the Institute’s Centennial Year celebrations. She is currently a volunteer on the Institute’s Disciplinary Committee and received the Distinguished Service Award from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta for exemplary service to the profession.
Robert was born and raised in Calgary. He received his Bachelor of Management (Honours) from the University of Lethbridge in 2009 and continued his education by earning a Master of Professional Accounting from the University of Saskatchewan in 2011.
Robert began his articling period with Ernst & Young LLP, Calgary in their audit and assurance department working in the oil and gas, hospitality and manufacturing industries. He joined Hamilton & Rosenthal, Chartered Accountants in 2012 and has continued to focus on audit and assurance engagements with a specific focus in the construction industry. Robert is on the board of directors of the Calgary Construction Association and in the position of Secretary.
Robert has always been dedicated to volunteering with various Calgary organizations. He has traveled to third world countries to contribute to community development and is currently active in several local non-profit organizations.
Robert became a partner of Hamilton & Rosenthal, Chartered Accountants LLP in 2015.
Susan was born and raised in Calgary. She has been with Hamilton & Rosenthal, Chartered Accountants since its inception in 1988. She completed her Advanced Certification in Accountancy with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British Columbia in 1998. She continues her professional development by completing courses with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta in addition to attending tax related seminars.
Susan has a strong knowledge and many years of experience with owner-operated small businesses, tax planning, accounting software implementation, and Canadian and U.S. cross border issues. She manages the firm’s Sundre location and shares her time between the Sundre and Calgary offices.
As a proud Albertan and Calgarian, Susan has spent many years volunteering in community and non-for-profit organizations. She was a director for Sundre Arts Centre for 15 years and continues to be a strong supporter of the arts, theatre and the Calgary Stampede.
Rachel was born and raised in mainland China. She came to Calgary as an international student and earned her Bachelor of Business Administration – Accounting from the Mount Royal University in 2012. She is trilingual in Mandarin, Cantonese and English.
In 2016, Rachel successfully obtained her C.P.A./C.G.A. Designation. She is focusing her professional development in the area of in-depth taxation and possesses a high level of expertise with a multitude of accounting software programs in the marketplace.
Rachel enjoys music, singing and cooking but mostly taxes.
In 2018 Rachel proudly became a Canadian citizen and a partner of Hamilton & Rosenthal, Chartered Accountants LLP.
